The Cordillera has lost one great Leader – Benguet Representative Nestor Fongwan Sr.
As Mayor back in 2007-2010, I saw how he had tirelessly worked for Benguet as Governor, where most of my kailyans from Natonin and Paracelis opted to settle. I’ve seen how he’d provide sound suggestions to issues for Regional cooperation.
Before I forget, He often made jokes out of his misfortune….
His last text message to me this September was: Cong.Fongwan: Ada kami ditoy ayan ni Secretary adi
My Reply: Ipapatim Sir a

I met him on several occasions and had the opportunity to hear him share about his roots. He said he was a native of Kapangan same roots as my mother. Though I can’t give every detail, what I can say is he is brilliant. And he truly cares for his people.
Relatives, friends, gov’t officials, and supporters have expressed their grief about his passing. A loss for Cordillera region indeed.
